Today is my dad’s birthday! He said it’s not a big deal, but I really liked my birthday, so I’m excited for him. I have been kind of busy lately (practicing my walking, pulling things off shelves and out of drawers, learning what sound cows make….) so I didn’t have time to buy daddy a present. Instead, I asked Mommy if she thought it would be ok for me to write him a special note. She said that he’d really like that, so here goes…
I knew I liked you from the moment I met you. When I first got here, I was so small, your hand was almost as big as my whole self. I liked that because it made me feel safe. Remember when you used to feed me bottles and you’d cheer me on and be so proud of me if I had 2 or 3 ounces? I like making you proud. That’s why I’m trying to learn how to type on the computer like you. Thanks for letting me practice and not worrying that I’ll mess something up.
Another thing I love is that you always try to make me laugh. You make funny noises and animal sounds, or you tickle me or hold me up in the air. It’s so much fun. My favorite thing is the weekends, when we wake up and watch soccer. I can’t wait to be able to walk and run so I can kick the soccer ball around with you. I guess we’ll probably have to get a real one. My squishy ball looks different than the one they use on TV. Oh hey, I wonder if my super cool track suit still fits?
During the week, I miss you and Mommy when I’m at daycare. I have so much fun there, but I love when Mommy picks me up and brings me home. I know that a little bit after that happens, the door will make noise. And when the door makes noise, I know it’s you! Sometimes, Mommy and I pretend to hide, and then you pretend to hide, and we all scare each other and it’s hilarious. What a funny family we are!
Oh man, I’m blabbing on and on. I almost forgot to say the most important stuff of all. Daddy, I want to thank you for loving me and taking such good care of me and Mom. We’re so lucky to have you. I love you! Happy Birthday! Also, can we have cupcakes?
